Autumn festivals and events!
What’s coming up!
Summer season may be over but there is still a lot going on in September and October if you fancy a break away! Read a little bit more below about some festival and events that are coming up!
It can be nice to get away during the quieter season and chill out without the usual hustle and bustle that you can expect from the busy summer months. While some camping sites shut down after August for winter there are still plenty of sites open, just make sure to phone ahead or check out their website or Facebook to confirm!
Irish Autumn Festivals and Events Await
Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival
First up we have the Lisdoonvarna matchmaking festival! This festival runs from September 1st to October 8th. Whether you are looking for love or not this is a lively festival which is good craic with great music! It is one of Ireland’s oldest traditional festivals, running for 150 years!! It attracts upwards of 50,000 people each year from all over the world and boasts live music and performances from some of the best names in country music!
Head down to this festival which runs over 6 weekends for some fun, live music, dancing, good craic and sure if you find love down there then it’s a bonus!!
A campsite nearby to this would be Nagles Camping and Caravan Park in Doolin only ten minutes from Lisdoonvarna.
Also, Riverside camping which too is based in Doolin.
Cork Jazz Festival
From country to jazz! Next up we have the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival which is celebrating 40 years and runs from October 27th to October 30th! The city comes alive over these few days with live music and events happening all over! Some of these venues are ticketed and you will have to pay but if you just want to head down and experience the wonderful atmosphere, there are plenty of free events too if you go exploring!
Why not plan a holiday in Ireland around the festival and explore more of what Cork has got to offer? Blarney Caravan and Camping Park is just 6miles outside Cork city. Stay there where, you can get a bus into the city and a taxi back out from the festival! Then you can explore Blarney and the surrounding areas!
Galway International Oyster Festival
The Galway International Oyster Festival is another long running festival, 63 years to be exact! This runs from September 22nd to September 24th and has loads going on! Beginning on the Friday evening with plenty of live music and entertainment followed by the World Oyster opening Championship the next day. Also on the Saturday is the Festival Marquee a gala event along with family activities, live music, cooking demonstrations and much more! The night will begin with an Oyster and Prosecco reception followed by starter course in different venues around Galway. Then parade ‘Mardi Gras style’ to the final venue for main course, desert and dancing!
Finally, on Sunday it is family day with catering for both adults and children, musical performances in the festival marquee and plenty of entertainment!
Stay in Salthill Caravan Park where you can walk in out of the city or easily catch a bus or taxi!
Belfast International Arts Festival
This runs from October 6th to October 28th. This festival covers theatre, dance, classical and roots music, visual, film and digital arts and literature and accompanied by outreach and educational events! So, loads going on! Events happen at different locations around the city and it is well worth a visit!!
While enjoying the autumn festival, you can stay at Dundonald Touring Caravan Park, conveniently located near the city! You can easily get into the city from here and you are also close to local amenities such as restaurants, cinema, bowling alley and an ice skating rink!
Take a few days and spend some time travelling across Northern Ireland’s beautiful causeway coastal route!

Savour Kilkenny
A relatively newer festival in Ireland compared to the others but still in its eleventh year this festival goes from strength to strength and will appeal to all the food lovers out there! This also runs from October 27th to October 30th. Loads going on over the weekend with this festival with entertainment for adults and kids alike. Again, some events are ticketed however, there are still plenty to see and do for free so have a look online and choose for yourself. Celebrity Chef cooking demo’s, talks, workshops, competitions and unique dinning events. There will be renowned chefs including Neven Maguire, David and Stephen Flynn of the Happy Pear fame and Catherine Fulvio to name just a few! Just 1.5 km from the city is Tree Grove Caravan and Camping Park which is an ideal location to stay in over the weekend!
