With a family, it is good to plan out the main places that you will spend the night during your stay. It helps to have some facilities that will keep children entertained when you need to unwind.
1. Eagle Point Camping (Cork)
Based just 10 minutes away from the idyllic seaside town of Bantry in West Cork, Eagle Point Camping is the perfect place for a trip to the coast. Right on the water, pebble beaches, the rock pools and the natural landscape make for long fun filled days on site; memories are made at Eagle Point! Make sure not to miss this campsite if you plan to visit Cork and the surrounding areas next summer.
2. Hidden Valley Holiday Park (Wicklow)
Hidden Valley is an apt description for this campsite as it is certainly one of Ireland’s hidden gems. The Wicklow mountains provide the backdrop for this picturesque, family-orientated campsite. With its own private lake this is the perfect destination for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. From great adventure to creative activities and relaxing days, there’s something to suit everyone, whatever the weather on your short break.
3. Nagles Camping and Caravan Park (Clare)
In the shadows of the Cliffs of Moher, Nagles Camping and Caravan Park provides the perfect location for a visit to the West of Ireland. Visitors are spoilt for choice on what to do when they arrive; they could visit the trad bars in Doolin, go to the beach in Lahinch and even take a trip to the Aran Islands. This campsite is a perfect base for a holiday in the west of Ireland.
4. Camac Valley Tourist and Caravan and Camping Park (Dublin)
Dublin may not be the first county that springs to mind when considering a camping trip but Camac Valley based near Clondalkin is a spacious and fun campsite just a short bus ride from the nation’s capital. This is a perfect alternative to spending a small fortune on a hotel room in Dublin if you want to see any of the many attractions the city has to offer. Fishing, golf and a children’s playground are all available to provide entertainment to a variety of guests.
5. Rosguill Holiday Park (Donegal)
This quiet, family owned park is located on the stunning Rosguill Peninsula, Melmore, Downings on County Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way. Every pitch on the park affords a view of Mulroy Bay & the surrounding rugged & varied scenery. The much photographed beaches of Tra na Rossan & Murder Hole are only a short walk from Rosguill Holiday Park making it the perfect base for hillwalking, water sports, photography or even a lazy beach day after enjoying a barista style coffee or luxury ice cream from their Shoreline Coffee & Ice Cream Shop.
6. Nore Valley Park (Kilkenny)
This Award-Winning family run camping site is located in a quiet, peaceful valley and is personally supervised at all times. Situated on an open farm so patrons have free access to the farm located by the camp and children are encouraged to assist in animal feeding. There are various activities found within 10 km of Nore Valley Park, including swimming, fishing, canoeing, golf, craft shops, horse riding and many historical sites.
7. Clifden Eco Beach Camping and Caravanning Park (Galway)
Clifden eco Beach is a multi-award-winning ecological park and Ireland’s first eco-certified carbon-neutral premises. Nestling among the sand dunes on the shores of Connemara’s Wild Atlantic Way, it boasts breathtaking panoramic seascape views from its secluded private sandy beach. You can holiday at Clifden Eco Beach happy in the knowledge that you are supporting the environment as this is an ecological, low impact camping environment.
8. Mannix Point Camping (Kerry)
Located along the fantastic Ring of Kerry, Mannix Point has everything you could want, from a prime location close to pubs, bars, and restaurants to the beautiful backdrop of wonderful surroundings. This waterfront caravan park has incredible views in all directions. There are plenty of pitches where you can either park your van or put up your own tent overlooking the water.
9. Lough Key (Roscommon)
This 350 hectare estate contains many trails through the woodland and forest for you to explore. Lough Key is a great location that provides enough activities and facilities that you wouldn’t even need to leave the campsite! If you fancy getting out of the campsite you can go visit Boyle Abbey or Strokestown Park where the Irish National Famine Museum is.
